Northern Ireland grocery guide
Meat prices in Northern Ireland
Meat comparison needs more than one broad category. Beef mince, chicken drumsticks, pork chops and burgers are different decisions and should not be mixed carelessly.
Beef and mince
For mince, fat level matters. Low fat, medium fat and high fat bands help compare 5%, 10-15% and higher-fat products more clearly. Steak mince is treated as a low-fat style unless the retailer shows otherwise.
Chicken, turkey and pork
Chicken wings, drumsticks, thighs, fillets, turkey mince and pork cuts need their own product families so users can compare like with like.
Prepared meat
Burgers, sausages and ready-seasoned products are useful but should be separated from raw meat cuts because ingredients, pack counts and health scores differ.
